Thoms serves on the board of the WIT Foundation, the philanthropic organization within WIT.  As the Deputy General Manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Thoms manages key initiatives and is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day business functions to provide efficient, safe and reliable transit service to the public.  Thoms joined MARTA, the ninth largest transit system in North America, in 2002 and has provided leadership for some of the Authority's most forward thinking technology initiatives including the Breeze program.  Her background includes over 16 years of combined leadership and Information Technology experience.

In 2006 Thoms was honored as WIT's Woman of the Year in Technology Award in the non-profit/public sector category and the National Black MBA Association's Outstanding MBA of the Year.  She serves on the Boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Transit Association, Clean Air Campaign, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Georgia CIO Leadership Association.  She was listed among Atlanta's Most Influential African-American Women by the Atlanta Business Journal, the Atlanta Business League's 2005 and 2006 "Atlanta's Top 100 Black Women of Influence", and recognized as one of Atlanta's Most Influential African-American leaders by Who's Who Publishing.  Thoms is the Immediate Past President of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Black MBA Association and a member of the Coalition of 100 Black Women.
