One of the greatest challenges faced by executives and managers in the technology industry is attracting, retaining and motivating highly innovative and creative employees.  WIT's 2007 meeting series provides the practical advice and tools necessary for increasing leadership value.

The first in the series is presented by Atlanta's own, Jim Huling.  Both men and women will learn key leadership characteristics that attract talent, drive performance, and inspire loyalty and passion in your team.

Description

You may have heard so often that "leaders are born, not made" that you have come to believe it.  It is not true.  Leaders are not defined by birth.  Leaders are defined by the choices that they make.

You may have heard so often that "leaders are born, not made" that you have come to believe it.  It is not true.  Leaders are not defined by birth.  Leaders are defined by the choices that they make.

Become a Transformational Leader is a message for those who have made the choice to lead at the highest levels of influence and impact.  Jim Huling, CEO of MATRIX Resources, inspires leaders to look beyond process improvement and instead, to create real transformation in their organizations and teams; transformation where separate individuals become partners, where self-interests become secondary to a shared vision, and where apathy becomes inspiration and focused execution.

The presentation will be of great importance to you if you seek to be a transformational leader.

Jim's insightful view into extraordinary leadership often differs in perspective from motivational speakers and consultants.  Expect to be challenged in this hard-hitting presentation as you will learn to:

  • Find the source of your team's passion and how to use it to drive results
  • Choose between the seduction of appearance and the substance of character
  • Create focus – embrace your responsibility to choose what's really important
  • Set meaningful goals - how they can unleash higher performance

Jim Huling is the President and CEO of MATRIX Resources, one of the most successful private companies in America.  Built on a solid foundation of operational and cultural excellence, MATRIX is an ongoing case study of how a company can achieve financial success while adhering to the highest principles of integrity, fairness, genuine care for its employees, and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction.

Corporate and Personal Recognition
A $187 million company, MATRIX has experienced uninterrupted profitability and debt-free operations throughout its 23-year history.  It is ranked among the 50 largest technology services companies in the U.S., and a three-time member of the Inc.  500 list of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in America.

In 2005, MATRIX was named one of the "25 Best Small Companies to Work for in America" by the Great Place to Work Institute and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  MATRIX has also received numerous local and statewide awards as a Great Place to Work.  MATRIX employee turnover averages less than 10%, including zero turnover in the past five years among Jim's leadership team.

MATRIX was recognized in 2004 with the first-ever Turknett Leadership Character Award, and Jim himself was honored in 2006 with the Turknett Leadership Character Award for his personal and professional commitment to integrity, respect, and responsibility based on nominations submitted by the MATRIX leadership team.  Jim has championed the company's expansion into two additional business lines including a full service solutions delivery division in MATRIX Project Solutions, and an industry leading vendor management division in MATRIX Workforce Solutions.  Since their inception, these two divisions have generated a combined growth rate of more than 2,500% while expanding the company's ability to be a strategic partner to its customers.

Much of the MATRIX success can be attributed to the company's execution-focused culture, including full participation and alignment in goal setting among all employees.  Jim and his leadership team focus each MATRIX associate on only those very few goals that mean the most to the company—especially the delivery of the highest quality IT services to its customers.

Jim also led MATRIX to formalize its values as embodied in The MATRIX Charter and implemented a philosophy of public accountability through the measurement of each value in a report card displayed prominently in the visitor lobby in each office.  In addition, MATRIX holds itself accountable to its customers through ongoing satisfaction surveys on such factors as timeliness, responsiveness, knowledge, professionalism, and quality of service.  Those results are also posted in the lobby as another scoreboard for visitors to review.
