Vital Leadership Series

Please join us for our April Women in Technology meeting as Gwen Jolley, Chief Insurance Business Information Officer at ChoicePoint, Inc., shares her insights on "The importance of mentorship to guide your career."

Description

As we all know, it's vital to have a plan for your career development. If you're unsure how to design your plan or are stuck at what your next steps should be, a mentorship could provide the help you need.  If you're further up the career ladder and are ready to reach down and help someone else with their climb, you should consider becoming a mentor.

Mentoring relationships come in many flavors which Gwen will discuss. She’ll also discuss issues such as what is a mentor, what does it take to be a mentor; what are the responsibilities for a mentee; how do you find a mentor or become a mentor; guiding principles and best practices for mentors and mentees, and how to set-up goals and objectives and make it meaningful.

Come learn how establishing the right mentoring relationship can enhance your career and your life!

Gwen Jolley currently serves as the Chief Insurance Business Information Officer at ChoicePoint, Inc.  In this role, Gwen is responsible for the development and implementation of the custom applications that provide the data services to ChoicePoint’s Insurance customers.  In this role, Gwen provides product support to the top twenty-five Insurance companies in the country and 90% of the Insurance market.

Gwen is formerly a member of the Deloitte & Touche CIO Services Consulting Practice and the Real Estate Services Practice.  In that role, she provided advice and guidance to senior IT executives and on occasion filled the role of CIO for clients on an interim basis.

Before joining Deloitte & Touche, Gwen was the CIO for Bovis following their acquisition by Lend Lease.  Lend Lease had earlier acquired Equitable Real Estate where Gwen was the CIO.  After this acquisition, Gwen relocated to Sydney, Australia (headquarters of the new parent company) as the CIO for Real Estate Investments.  Both of these positions allowed Gwen to use her strength, aligning and realigning IT organizations to support their business missions, often following mergers and acquisitions.

Gwen began her career as an assembly level developer doing custom applications at a national level for the U. S. Treasury and progressed through the “typical” IT career path of developer, analyst, project manager, etc.  Over her career, she has received numerous Leadership and Special Recognition awards.  She has been active in various capacities with several professional organizations including Women in Technology (WIT), as a Former Board Member, and is currently a board member of Global Executive Women.
