Daniel W. Darling is senior vice president of technology production and operations and chief information officer for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.).  In this capacity, he oversees Turner’s network operations, technology services, studios and broadcast engineering functions, as well as the company’s Enterprise Applications, Oasis and ISG groups.  Darling is based in Atlanta and reports to Scott Teissler, executive vice president, chief technology officer and chief digital technology strategist for TBS, Inc.


The Network Operations unit provides wide-ranging 24-hour functional and operational support for the TBS, Inc. entertainment networks.  Net Ops departments include broadcast operations, program edit, library services, log management and sales operations.  Turner Studios, the largest all-digital production facility in the Southeast, provides turn-key production services worldwide for the TBS, Inc. networks, including live and post-produced video and audio production, custom music and sound design, on-location remote film and video production, scenic design, set construction and visual effects.  Darling oversaw the technical and organizational design and transition into Turner Studios.


Darling joined TBS, Inc. in 1985 as a senior post-production editor.  He began his career in television production as a lighting designer and editor for RHM and Brass Ring Productions.  His work has been recognized with several Emmy Awards.


Darling’s leadership yielded Turner Broadcasting the first Georgia Oglethorpe Award, the state equivalent of the prestigious Malcolm Baldridge Award, for performance excellence by Turner Studios.  He was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to the Georgia Film, Video and Music Advisory Commission; is a recipient of the Governor’s Award and the Silver Circle Award from the Southeast Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences; and serves on the boards of directors of the Technology Association of Georgia and Atlanta’s Centennial Place YMCA.
