Top Companies in Georgia To Answer Call for Nominations for WIT's Best Employers in Georgia Award

Requests Driving Extension of Deadline for Applications to September 30, 2005

September 21, 2005 - ATLANTA, GA - Women in Technology (WIT), the leading association committed to the development of Georgia's businesswomen in the technology industry, and Platinum Sponsor, Microsoft Corporation, today announced that due to numerous requests, the Call for Nominations for the fourth annual WIT's Best Employers in Georgia has been extended until Friday, September 30, 2005.  Nomination forms are currently available at www.witinc.org.

This prestigious breakfast awards event highlights the differentiating qualities of leading Georgia employers and how these firms serve as examples to other employers who aspire to motivate, retain, and grow the capabilities of their diverse workforces.  To be held on the morning of November 4, 2005 from 7:30am - 10:00am at the Buckhead InterContinental Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, this award program is focused on companies that are working hard to develop programs and initiatives for women to support a diverse workforce.

Award Criteria and Deadlines

Organizations participating as nominees in this award program will be judged in three categories:

  • Enterprise Class Organizations (Annual revenue of $1 billion or greater)
  • Midsize Class Organizations (Annual revenue greater than $100 million and less than $1 billion)
  • Non-Profit Organizations

For each of the three categories, organizations will be evaluated and judged in each of the following four areas:

 
Executive Development Active development and execution of strategies that promote women at the executive and board level.
Inclusion Active development and execution of strategies that result in the inclusion of women below the C-level in line management opportunities.
Balance Active development and execution of strategies that result in a work/balance strategy designed to support working women.
Innovation Active development and execution of program(s) that advanced the competitive spirit of women.  The program(s) should create a model for other companies to execute at their own organizations.
