WIT Announces the 2006 Women of the Year in Technology Awards Winners
Three winners selected for excellence in organizational and community leadership

April 28, 2006 - ATLANTA, GA - Women in Technology (WIT), the leading association committed to the development of Georgia's businesswomen in the technology industry, announced the winners of the 2006 Women of the Year in Technology Awards last night at TWELVE in Atlantic Station.  Winners in each of the three award categories were recognized for their leadership and achievement within their organizations and communities.  These winners were selected from among 50 nominations and nine finalists who were recognized during the event.

The winners of WIT's 2006 Women of the Year in Technology Awards are:

  • Enterprise Businesses Category
    Susan Grant, Executive Vice President, CNN
  • Small/Medium Businesses Category
    Wendy Reed, CEO, InfoMentis
  • Not-for-Profit/Public Sector
    Jannet Thoms, Assistant General Manager for Technology & Customer Service Delivery, MARTA

"These women not only achieved great results for their companies, they have demonstrated great care and pride in their employees and associates," said Marsha Calfee, WIT President.  "They are women who have gone above and beyond, both in driving results for their companies and in helping to develop their employees.  Their energy, focus, and unswerving commitment to get the job done along with their eagerness to rise to the challenge set them apart.  They truly represent the best of Atlanta's technology industry, and WIT is proud to honor them as 2006 Women of the Year in Technology Award winners."

The winners were selected from a very highly qualified field of 50 nominees whose applications were received in February.  Each nomination was reviewed by a selection committee comprised of representatives from Women in Technology, business and industry.  They narrowed the list to nine semi-finalists in each category who were then interviewed by another team comprised of executives from business, industry and representatives from Women in Technology.  The pool of semi-finalists was narrowed to three finalists in each category who were announced at the VIP reception on March 22 at Fay Gold Gallery.  The winners were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges including Scott Coleman, Korn/Ferry International; Joan Herbig, Cambia Security; Susan Hitchcock, Turknett Leadership Group; Paul Pischal, H.I.G. Ventures; Guido Sacchi, CompuCredit; Leland Strange, Intelligent Systems Corporation; and Dr. Beverly Tatum, Spelman College.
