Women In Technology (WIT) Announces 2008 Board Officer Appointments
New Executive Director Outlines Priorities for 2008 Championing Career Development Externally and from Within Organization

January 31, 2008 - ATLANTA - Women In Technology (WIT), the leading association devoted to the development of Georgia's businesswomen in the industry, today announced the Officers for the 2008 Board of Directors. WIT works to accelerate the careers of women in technology through initiatives that promote visibility and industry success. It also attracts women into the field through its youth programs and philanthropic activities.

Judi Vitale, partner with financial consulting services firm, AcuityCFO, will serve her second year as WIT president. Other board officers are: Jamie Greene, Kilpatrick Stockton, WIT vice president; Cassie Crist, Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP, WIT treasurer; and Brenda Holmes, Kilpatrick Stockton, WIT secretary. "2007 was a great year for WIT with success in our existing programs and events as well as in the launch of our Mentoring Circles Program, and I am honored to serve as WIT's President for a second year. It takes a village of volunteers to make WIT successful, and we are fortunate to have a large village of wonderful volunteers to fill the need," says Vitale. "In addition, 2007 was the year we expanded our organization and hired an executive director, who has been a tremendous addition to WIT. We are all looking forward to a fantastic 2008."

WIT Foundation Board Officers Announced

The Foundation, WIT's philanthropic arm, also announced its 2008 slate of officers: Sue Miller, managing consultant, MDI, continues on as president while other board officers are: Vickie Albee, Allset Consulting, WIT Foundation vice president; Margot King, Onsite Recruit, WIT Foundation secretary; and Kristi Johnson, Windham Brannon PC, WIT Foundation treasurer.

"Due to the continued success of WIT, the Foundation was again able to fund the FIRST Peachtree Regional along with almost a dozen middle school and high school robotics teams with a large percentage of female team members for the 2008 competition," Miller says. "We also funded various other donations to organizations such as Cool Girls. In addition, the Girls Get IT program expanded significantly with the introduction of its Technology Careers: Taking the First Steps workshop series. This series complements and furthers the work of the behind-the-scenes events the program had been executing in the past. Plans for 2008 include launching a membership component and week-long summer job shadow component to the Girls Get IT program and continuing our work in the area of college chapters. I am honored to serve as Foundation president for another year and look forward to working with all of our volunteers and community business partners to continue to educate and encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in our chosen discipline." New Focus in 2008: Career Enrichment for WIT Volunteers

WIT Executive Director Heather Rocker says initiatives new in 2008 include implementing an updated volunteer-placement process as part of WIT's Leadership & Development program area. It will be structured to provide a "career path" for WIT volunteers.

"I have a strong focus to provide strategic volunteer opportunities within WIT that individuals and companies alike can use to supplement their professional development plans. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of this organization, and are pivotal to us executing on WIT's mission and vision," she says.

WIT currently has 120 volunteers, including over 50 new to the organization this year.

Plans are well underway for WIT's two flagship events, WIT Connect, to be held April 30 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, and WIT's Women of the Year in Technology Awards presented by Grant Thornton, slated for September (Location TBD).
