August 7, 2008 - ATLANTA - Women in Technology (WIT) is announcing today the individuals selected as judges and companies participating as key sponsors for the ninth annual Women of the Year in Technology Awards presented by Grant Thornton. The awards gala will be held on Sept. 18, 2008, with finalists announced at the VIP reception on Aug. 14.

The judges for this year’s Women of the Year in Technology Awards are Joan Herbig, president and CEO, ControlScan; Jim Huling, CEO, The Jim Huling Group; Helene Lollis, partner and president, Pathbuilders; Tino Mantello, president, Technology Association of Georgia; Elisabeth Marchant, publisher, Atlanta Woman Magazine; Wendy Reed, founder and CEO, InfoMentis; Karen Robinson, president, Prime Point Media; Carolyn N. Turknett, president, Turknett Leadership Group; John C. Yates, chair, Technology Group, Morris, Manning and Martin, LLP.

Finalists for the Women of the Year in Technology Award will participate in an interview conducted by the judging panel focusing on each finalist’s accomplishments within their organization, in the community and in the important role of mentor to other women. The judges then deliberate and select the winner in each category based on the merit of their applications and the strength of their interviews.

“This year’s judges are top technology and business leaders in Georgia and the nation, and we are honored to have each of them participating,” says Judi Vitale, president of Women in Technology. “The judges have an outstanding group of nominated women to interview – it will be a challenge to narrow the field to just three winners.”

Grant Thornton LLP is the presenting sponsor of the Awards. “We are happy to have been involved with the Women of the Year in Technology Awards since the event’s inception. Supporting the advancement and retention of women in technical professions like accounting, science and technology is critical to the future success of all our businesses and consistent with our firm’s focus on the technology industry,“ says Lori Turbé, Atlanta partner and Women@Grant Thornton leader.

Additional sponsors include Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, the Gold Sponsor of the event; Silver Sponsors ING, What’s Up Interactive and NPI; the Media Sponsor is the Atlanta Business Chronicle; with CarterBaldwin participating as the sponsor of the VIP reception held on Aug. 14.
