Sessions

Session 1 - Exploring Your Talents
Presenters:
Tricia Dempsey and David Hand
Agile

Research suggests that the most effective people are those who understand themselves.  In this session, you will complete and analyze a unique assessment targeted at helping you understand your talents in three main areas:

  1. Behaviors – “how” you do the things you do
  2. Motivators – “why”  you do the things you do
  3. Attributes – “what” you are naturally gifted to do

This self exploration will provide a valuable foundation as you develop your brand and learn to package and promote everything that is wonderfully unique about “you”.

Session 2 - Effective Communications: Oral & Written
Presenters:
Steve Clements & Claudia Coplon
Executive Speak/Write

For 35-plus years, Steve Clements has taught, written, conceptualized, directed, produced and even testified on all aspects of media ranging from network broadcast to video to "live" production in a glass-bowl Disney studio. In these capacities, he has managed staffs ranging from 4 to 150, handled budgets ranging from $11,000 to $1,000,000 a week, and prepared students, professionals and celebrities to talk to their various publics.

Session 4 - Crafting, Packaging and Promoting “Your Story”

In today’s highly competitive, constantly changing, and message overloaded technology marketplace, it’s not enough to be successful.  One must be known for one’s success and accomplishments.  It’s not the better mousetrap; it’s the better-known mousetrap.  Getting exposure and visibility for your company, your products and services, and you are essential to career achievement.  This one-day intense, interactive session shows you how.

The course details how to define and refine a vision, how to package the story of one’s vision, and the key techniques to effectively tell a compelling tale.  Course time is split between lecture on key methodology points, industry case studies, and interactively examining and refining participants’ vision stories and messages.

Session 6 - Part 1 -  Making yourself print-worthy
Presenter:

What makes up a good news story?  Why do certain people always get covered in the press?  This session will give participants an inside look into the media, what they look for in press releases/stories and what compels them to write or publish an article on you and your story.  Local media professionals from Business to Business / Catalyst magazines will join this session to offer advice and counsel on how to position your story to invite media attention and how to avoid media footfalls.

Session 6 - Part 2 - Handling yourself in front of the camera
Presenter:
Richard Warner

How well do you present yourself in front of a camera?  Do you interview well?  How do you typically handle the tough questions?  Renowned journalist, radio and television personality Richard Warner, the host and managing editor of GPTV’s “Georgia Business Report “ and President of What’s Up Interactive, will coach participants on how best to conduct a television interview and what to say and not to say when addressing tough questions. Participants will receive a videotape of the session for future reference and will receive valuable feedback.

Session 7 - Final Session: Individual Plan Presentation and Feedback
Presenters:
Each Participant
Armed with the understanding of how to develop, support and promote your personal brand, this session is the opportunity for each participant to practice what they've learned over the course of this program.

Participants will deliver a 20 minute presentation on "My personal brand - Who am I?" The session is meant to give the participants the opportunity to share with the panel their personal brand, how they are going to use this awareness and create the visibility needed to push their careers to the next level. Participants will be videotaped and will receive feedback from a distinguished panel of premiere executives, media and local personalities.

Executive Coaching Support Infrastructure
A unique and key benefit of the Executive Coaching Program is the addition of one-on-one sessions with a professional coach.  Shelley Hammell, Executive Coach of Sage Alliance, Inc. will work with each participant outside of the planned Friday curriculum.  There are 2 planned sessions of one hour each that should be scheduled after Session 1 and prior to Session 6.  The purpose of these one-on-one sessions is to offer additional coaching throughout the program, supporting content and deliverables.
