The Home Depot and Women in Technology’s Girls Get IT program teamed up for our first event at the Peachtree Dunwoody location on Saturday morning, May 6th, 2006 - and what a phenomenal event it was! The management team from The Home Depot was ready, willing and able to showcase the technology tools that are in use every day by each staff member in every store, tools that enable The Home Depot to provide state-of-the-art service to their customers, service that makes The Home Depot stand out from the competition.
By the end of the tour, we all had a new appreciation for the importance of technology in every aspect of business and how computers are so intertwined with daily operations.
In the words of our attendees:
"This was a great opportunity for her to see the many jobs that a business so many people rely on can offer (...) She was amazed that people who have so much responsibility and authority would actually dedicate her time to such an event (as well as helping customers push materials out to their vehicles)."
"(The Home Depot event) was great! My daughter (...) was amazed at the amount of behind the scenes technology in a Home Depot store. This event offered a great opportunity for her to see first hand the impact of technology on our lives. Better yet, she was presented this information by very successful women in this field."
Thank you to all of the personnel at Home Depot who made this experience possible for our next generation of future technology leaders! |
