Ed BakerEd Baker

Atlanta Business Chronicle

Ed Baker has been Publisher of Atlanta Business Chronicle for 21 Years.  In addition to his local responsibilities, Ed is Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer of American City Business Journals, the corporate parent of the Chronicle and 41 other weekly business journals in major markets around the country.

Prior to joining the Chronicle, Ed worked for 11 years in senior management at two of the nation's premier advertising agencies – J. Walter Thompson and DMB&B.  He supervised the successful launch of the Jet Ski for Kawasaki, The Weather Channel, the cellular telephone for Bell South Mobility, and the Dunlop MAX golf ball.

Ed, who grew p in Atlanta, is very active in the community.  He serves on the boards of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Atlanta Business League, Junior Achievement, Public Broadcasting / Atlanta, and American Marketing Association.

A graduate of Georgia State University, Ed is (happily) married to his high school sweetheart – for 31 years.  They have one son who works in advertising in Atlanta.

Ephraim McLeanEphraim R. McLean 
Regents' Professor and
George E. Smith Eminent Scholar's Chair in Information Technology

Georgia State University

Joining the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University in 1987, McLean helped the Computer Information Systems Department improve its U.S. News & World Report's rankings to first in the southeast and eighth in the nation.  In 2002, he was named Regents' Professor, representing less than one percent of the faculty.  He has been a visiting professor at several international institutions and served on the faculty of the Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he founded the Information Systems Research Program.

He has published over 125 articles and is the co-author of Strategic Planning for MIS (Wiley Interscience, 1977), co-editor of APL Applications in Management (UCLA, 1981), co-editor of The Management of Information Systems (Dryden Press, 2nd ed., 1994), and co-author of the textbook Information Technology for Management (Wiley, 4th ed., 2004), now the second largest selling information systems textbook in the world.

McLean's credentials include: Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, S.M., Massachusetts Institute of Technology and B.M.E., Cornell University.  He has three times served on the national Executive Council of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and is currently the Executive Director of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and of the Association for Information Systems (AIS).  In addition to this university work, he has served as a consultant to Fortune 1000 companies and presented in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa, and throughout North America.  He is listed in the current issues of Marquis's Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.

Katie Mitchell TuckerKatie Mitchell Tucker

As Senior Client Partner in the Atlanta office of Korn/Ferry International, Mitchell Tucker focuses on the Advanced Technology practice, specifically the Communications and Convergence, and Software and Emerging Technology sub-sectors.  She is also a member of the CIO Center of Expertise.

She has worked with a broad spectrum of organizations from multi-national, multi-billion dollar companies to pre-revenue start-up organizations.  Positions filled have been senior C-level executive roles and secondary management roles in all functional responsibilities.

Within the professional services arena, Mitchell Tucker has conducted a number of information technology-focused management consulting projects, specifically business process outsourcing, call center services, ASP network and infrastructure, and technology management and development.

Mitchell Tucker has been in executive search for twelve years.  She previously worked with Ray & Berndtson in Dallas, Texas where she concentrated on the technology industry sector.  She is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi.  She holds an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and a Masters degree from Harvard University.

Wendy Reed founded InfoMentis, a global consulting and performance improvement company providing configurable programs that help clients enable cultural change and achieve bottom-line results.

Under her direction, the company has achieved tremendous growth and industry recognition for leadership and business integrity.  In 2006, InfoMentis celebrated its tenth year in business and continues to be aggressive in its efforts to deliver programs that will provide differentiation in the marketplace and allow clients to achieve revenue predictability and sustainability.

Prior to founding InfoMentis in 1996, Wendy worked for global organizations such as MSA (formerly Dun & Bradstreet Software), ViaSoft, Clarus, Hayes Microcomputer and Accenture where she held positions in sales, marketing, consulting, software implementation and sales management.

Wendy was named WIT's 2006 Woman of the Year in Technology in the Small/Medium Business Category.  Additionally, she is a prominent industry speaker and has spoken at events such as Microsoft's World Wide Partner Conference for the last three years, Oracle's Worldwide Leadership Forum, Technology Executive Round Table Events, TAG's Entrepreneurial Forums, WIT Events, Global Executive Woman and the High Tech CEO Council.  Reed also serves on several business and community boards including Revegy, Inc. and Milton High School Athletic Association.

Wendy received a bachelor's degree in computer-based management with a minor in communications from Clarkson University in 1984.

Jannet ThomsJannet M. Thoms 
Deputy General Manager
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)

As the Deputy General Manager for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Thoms manages key initiatives and is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day business functions to provide efficient, safe and reliable transit service to the public.  Thoms joined MARTA, the ninth largest transit system in North America, in 2002 and has provided leadership for some of the Authority's most forward thinking technology initiatives including the Breeze program.  Her background includes over 16 years of combined leadership and Information Technology experience.

In 2006 Thoms was honored as WIT's Woman of the Year in Technology Award in the non-profit/public sector category and the National Black MBA Association's Outstanding MBA of the Year.  She serves on the Boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Transit Association, Clean Air Campaign, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Georgia CIO Leadership Association.  She was listed among Atlanta's Most Influential African-American Women by the Atlanta Business Journal, the Atlanta Business League's 2005 and 2006 "Atlanta's Top 100 Black Women of Influence", and recognized as one of Atlanta's Most Influential African-American leaders by Who's Who Publishing.  Thoms is the Atlanta Chapter President of the National Black MBA Association and a member of the Coalition of 100 Black Women.

Dr. Barbara A. WhiteDr. Barbara A. White 
Chief Information Officer and Associate Provost
University of Georgia

Dr. Barbara A. White is the fourth Chief Information Officer and Associate Provost for The University of Georgia, the state's land-and-sea grant University with an enrollment of over 33,000 students.  White reports through the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.  She is responsible for the leadership, fiscal management, operation, implementation, and advancement of the campus information technology core architecture, systems and services for academic and administrative computing.

A major goal for Dr. White at the University is to position the traditional computer affiliated systems and services at a level reflecting engagement of the campus in the support, fiscal planning, staffing, management and implementation of the core architecture, systems, applications and services.

Her 30+ year career includes appointments at four Western land-grant institutions.  She previously served as the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for Utah State University (1999-2004).  She is the author or co-author of five book chapters and numerous refereed and non-refereed publications.

Dr. White represents institutional membership in Educause, ECAR, and Gartner Services.  An invited member of the Advisory Council for the Society for Information Management and the Atlanta CIO Executive Summit Governing Body, White also serves on the Advisory Board for the Georgia Southern Light Rail, and as a member to the SURA Information Technology Committee.

She is an honorary member of the Golden Key Honour Society, a member of Phi Delta Kappa, and the 2003 recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Service Award by the students of Utah State University.  White is also a graduate of the 2003 Harvard Institute of Education Leadership, and has held two leadership appointments in concert with the KELLOGG Foundation as both an Intern and as a Fellow.
